Good News and Bad News...

The Bad News is...none of the kids could come for Sunday Dinner this week ;O(. The Good New...Tim and I got to pick dinner....so yes Tim decided it was time for some good old Dutch Oven Cooking.... The coals stayed nice and hot even though it was only like 28 degrees out there....
Getting ready to check the inners and see if they are cooking good......

Yum look at that steam....nice and hot just the way it should be...

Checking to make sure it is the right temp...don't want to make anyone sick... Ha,ha,ha!!

Putting on the Apricot-Peach Glaze...you have to spoon it on...not pour it on..."Bobby Flay would turn over in his grave if I poured it on." Well good thing Bobby is not dead yet....but no worries he spooned it on ;o)

Look at those potatoes...and yes that is Bacon in them...big enough that Terrie can pick it out ;o)

Dumping off the charcoal ...get ready to bring in the good stuff.

Hot stuff coming through....Yummmy we can't wait to eat.
The rolls even look good...Can you tell we are not used to cooking just for a few....Lots of left-overs. ;o). We even had enough dough left over to make a loaf of bread.

The finished product....potatoes and Apricot-Peach Glazed Cornish Game Hens...

And we can't for get the Bavarian Apple Tort...Now that was good ;o) Well so were the potato's once you took the bacon out ;o)
Time to eat....I'm so excited!!! Tim loves his dutch oven cooking...Ha,ha,ha!!
Look more good news Tabitha just scooted in...in time for dinner with us! Good thing now that other game hen doesn't have to be left alone in the fridge waiting for someone to eat it....Yeah another random thought....Not!!! ha,ha,ha!!

Dinner was very good, even though Terrie said my rolls were Yucky! What's up with that? I figured I would dutch oven cook this weekend as school starts up again this next week. Oh well, it is the last semester so that is good. Terrie really liked the filling for the Bavarian apple tort--it was really good.

I like it when no one else can make it to dinner because then Dad makes me things like Cornish Game Hens or steak ;) Although I do miss the hectic-ness (is that a word?) of having the kids here.

What we have Cornish Game Hens and Stake when everyone else is here also...just not very much at least the stake! ha,ha,ha!

Tim would have loved the Nachos also ;o)

Just for the record I never said the rolls were yucky...he asked if he should try a new roll recipe too since he wasing doing everything else new and I said yes and then he made the old one...so I gave him a hard time about it...but never once said the rolls were yucky. Crazy guy!

I remember his dutch oven cooking. Mostly desserts from girls camp. They were the best!
